InSAI LabIntegrated Sensing and Assistive Intelligence (InSAI) Lab

InSAI @ HNU

Welcome to the website of the InSAI (pronounced like "Insight") lab. The lab is a part of the School of AI and Robotics at Hunan University.

The vision of the lab is to build a utopia where integrated sensing systems can empower and enhance human capabilities, especially benefiting people with disabilities. Our mission is to merge interdisciplinary fields such as computer vision, robotics, transportation systems, assistive technologies, and human-computer interaction (HCI) to create Assistive Intelligence.

Research profile

AI systems that understand environments, collaborate with people, and improve accessibility.

InSAI works across multimodal perception, robotics, assistive intelligence, autonomous systems, and accessible interfaces. The lab connects rigorous visual understanding with human-centered deployment.

Sense

Multimodal perception for complex real-world environments.

Vision, language, signals, maps, and sensor streams are connected into deployable understanding systems.

Reason

Embodied intelligence that links models with action.

Robots, vehicles, and interactive agents are studied through perception, navigation, and decision-making.

Assist

Accessible technologies designed around human capability.

Assistive interfaces and inclusive AI systems are built for practical use with people and communities.
